Calamity, Galloping Inferno! A sweet rare card that enables some sick combos if you would manage to draft this card. Even though it currently sits at a game in hand winrate (GIH WR) of 55.3%, it does allow for some fun plays! For 4 colorless and 2 red you get a 4/6 with an amazing saddle ability.

When it attacks saddled, you can choose a nonlegendary creature that saddled it and create a tapped and attacking token that’s a copy of it. Then you repeat this process once. Just note that you can saddle with more then one creature if you would like to, so you can choose different creatures. Just make sure you saddled your horse with nonlegendary creatures to get in on all the fun.

Calamity, Galloping Inferno

Let’s first look at the GIH WR for the different color pairs that are currently up on 17lands: WR - 55.5% UR - 54.6% GR - 58.1% BR - 55.2% It clearly seems to find a better place in the GR color pair. Given the big creatures that come in that archetype and the easy access to some ramp cards, this doesn’t really come as a shocker.

So what would be some nice plays with this one? In case you would be GR, playing Cactarantula on turn 5 (make sure you pick your deserts), following this up with a Calamity, allows you to swing that turn for 16 damage total. If you would have the chance to play a Colossal Rattlewurm, you would be able to swing for the same amount, but you would come in with 12 trample damage. Another niche play was to have a Mine Raider saddling up the Calamity, providing some extra treasure tokens that juiced up a later “Crackle with Power”.

You even have the potential to deal 20 damage directly to the face when you have a “Terror of the Peaks”! Whenever the 2 copies come into play, the original will be able 10 damage by itself, whereafter the 2 copies see eachother coming into play, allowing to deal an additional 5 damage each!
